Community Development

The Community Development department ‘s purpose is to implement and manage the EHC’s community development strategies , policies and plans to support the development of sustainable communities and enhanced quality of life for all EHC tenants and surrounding communities. This is achieved through the following :

• Community development initiatives that create a relationship between EHC and its tenants.

• Planning and managing specific community development engagement

• Empowerment programmes including education of tenants as to their responsibility to the effective running of their complexes .

It is for this reason therefore that EHC seeks to develop programmes to enhance relationship and quality of living for the tenants.

Mandela Day Initiative

The EHC is also working with the Social Housing Regulatory Authority (SHRA) which performs a dual responsibility of being a regulator and a funder of projects. The EHC is also a member of the National Association of Social Housing Organization (NASHO) which provides the Entity with space and opportunity to engage with other Social Housing Institutions.

EHC's Participation

The EHC staff on the 18th of July was divided into groups and went to different complexes on the day on a “clean up” campaign to show some sense of solidarity and build back the trust already lost between the tenants and EHC as a whole.

Heritage Day Programme

EHC celebrated the Heritage Day on the 24 September to recognise the cultural wealth of our nation. We celebrated the day by remembering the cultural heritage of the many cultures that make up the population of South Afr ica. The EHCs theme for 2019 was our knowledge of ingenious languages of South Africa.
